Energizing Compassion
Too often, we learn of devastation through the news. Whether it’s on social media, the nightly broadcast or your car radio on the drive home — the stories we hear are too frequently about heart-wrenching events, both near and far.
I think back to those impacted by tornadoes and flooding in our own state this year — people just like you and me who woke up expecting a normal day, unaware of how drastically Mother Nature would change their lives. Or consider something even more universal: the loss of a loved one. It’s an experience we all face eventually, but that truth never makes it easier to bear.
No matter the nature of the devastation, it serves as a powerful call — to each of us as individuals and to us collectively as an electric cooperative. It is a call to show compassion. To energize that compassion is to extend a helping hand to those in need.
Over the past year, Powell Valley Electric Cooperative has answered that call — supporting our local community and stepping in to help neighboring areas during their most trying times. When storms and flooding struck, our first priority was restoring power to every home and business in our own service area. Only after we ensured that all of our members had their lights back on did our lineworkers travel to assist others, helping rebuild lines and restore electricity to churches, small businesses, schools and families.
That’s the kind of compassion that defines who we are. It’s the quiet strength behind every switch flipped and every home warmed. It’s not just about restoring power — it’s about restoring hope.
At Powell Valley Electric Cooperative, compassion fuels our mission. We are committed to energizing every moment — and with your continued trust and support, we’ll keep powering forward, together.
